A consortium including billionaire Amazon founder Jeff Bezos has advanced its talks to buy about a 30% stake in\u00a0<\/b>Liverpool<\/b><\/a>, BBC Sport has been told.<\/b><\/p>\n

The group is led by British-Indian millionaire businessman Amit Bhatia and also includes Facebook co-founder Eduardo Saverin.<\/p>\n

Owners Fenway Sports Group (FSG) confirmed last month that the group had \u00ab\u00a0expressed interest in making a strategic minority investment in\u00a0Liverpool<\/a>\u00a0Football Club\u00a0\u00bb.<\/p>\n

Bhatia is the son-in-law of Indian billionaire businessman Lakshmi Mittal and had been a director and co-owner of Queens Park Rangers for 18 years before relinquishing his stake in the club last month.<\/p>\n

American businessman Bezos, founder of e-commerce giant Amazon, is the fourth-richest person in the world.<\/p>\n

According to Forbes, the 62-year-old has an estimated net worth of $256bn (\u00a3192bn).<\/p>\n

FSG, who bought\u00a0Liverpool<\/a>\u00a0in a \u00a3300m deal in 2010,\u00a0previously sold a minority stake<\/a>\u00a0in the Anfield side to global sports investment firm Dynasty Equity.<\/p>\n

BBC Sport contacted FSG about the latest developments, but they had no further comment.<\/p>\n

In January,\u00a0Liverpool<\/a>\u00a0became the\u00a0top-earning Premier League club<\/a>\u00a0for the first time, according to analysis from financial firm Deloitte.<\/p>\n

The following month the club announced\u00a0record revenues<\/a>\u00a0of \u00a3703m for 2024-25 financial year.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
